Physical therapy lives on the plan of care, and Pinnacle's was split across four tools. “Scheduling, the home-exercise program, the clinical note, and the insurance claim were four separate places,” says Marcus Vell, Clinic Director. “The claim and the note that justified it didn't live together, so denials were hard to fight.”

Across two clinics, a patient seen at both was effectively two patients, and continuity of care suffered for it.

Pinnacle moved charts and scheduling first, then connected billing, with the exercise programs living on the same record. A patient is now known at both locations.

“The first denial we overturned in two minutes because the note was right there on the claim — that paid for the switch,” Vell says.
