Plotline never lacked talent — it lacked a single place to put the work. “Every project lived in six tools at once,” says Lin Beck, Founder. “The brief was in HubSpot, the tasks in Asana, the hours in Harvest, the invoice in FreshBooks, the recordings in Loom, and the conversation in Slack. We weren’t an agency, we were a tab-management company that occasionally shipped campaigns.”

The leak that hurt most was time. Hours tracked in one tool had to be exported and re-keyed into another to become an invoice, so people logged time late, or rounded down, or forgot. The agency was billing less than it earned simply because capturing the work was a chore.
